Our Final Weekly Checkin of the school year

June 14, 2020

Dear Midway Families,

It is the last week of school!

What a journey we have had together. We still have a couple of closure activities planned to wrap up this unique year. We know the end of this year has been incredibly challenging for our families, and we all still have so many questions as we look forward to the coming school year. However, we hope that this coming week can be a time to pause and look back on the last nine months together. We hope these reflections include celebrations for academic growth since September 3rd, fond memories of events like Open House, Cozy Up to Reading, and Book Bingo, and awe at how our children have grown physically and in their character as another school year draws to a close. Thank you for the opportunity to serve your children this year.

A couple of items to wrap up the year:

Teacher Parade: We're coming to you! On the morning of Friday, June 19, teachers plan to “parade” through the neighborhood in our own vehicles. Our route is attached to help you plan around other events that may be taking place at our feeder schools this day. If you don't live right on the route, please find a safe piece of sidewalk where you can socially distance and watch for us and wave as we drive by.

We can't wait to see you! Teacher Parade Route

Virtual Assembly: We usually look forward to an assembly on the last day of school. We use this time to enjoy photos of the past year together, to celebrate staff members who will be moving on from Midway, and to share other important end of year announcements. We will be sending your assembly to your email boxes on Friday. Enjoy!

Yearbooks: You can pick up yearbooks drive-through style between 9am and 3pm this Wednesday! Thank you for trying to come in your vehicle for our mutual safety, but walking or biking is okay if you do not have a vehicle available. A small number of additional yearbooks are available for purchase on a first-come, first serve basis if you were unable to pre-order. Families of fifth grade and kindergarten students also have the option to pick up during their graduation events.

Mark your calendars:

  • Mead Eats @ Midway for daily lunch and breakfast - 11am-12:30pm daily (other locations)

  • June 17 - Drive Up Yearbook Pick Up, 9am-3pm

  • June 18 - KIndergarten and 5th Grade Graduation Events

  • June 19 - Last Day of School, Teacher Parade through Neighborhood, 10am

  • June 19 - “Virtual Assembly” delivered to your email!

In gratitude,

Christine Spinnell & Kellie Timberlake
